Unit 3 Vocabulary Words and Definitions


1. Cramped- Confined and limited in space.

2. Distracted- To draw (attention) away from something.

3. Viewpoint- A position from which something is observed.

4. Shattered- To break into pieces by force.

5. Embark- To set out on an adventure.

6. Conduct- The act of directing; management.

7. Benefit- Something that is of help; an advantage.

8. Repeal- To withdraw or cancel officially; revoke.

9. Advantages- A beneficial factor or feature.

10. Temporary- Lasting, served, or used for a limited time.

11. Prohibit- To forbid by law or authority.

12. Objected- To be opposed; express disapproval.

13. Legendary- Very well known, famous.

14. Formal- Structured according to forms or conventions.

15. Strategy- The planning actions useful in gaining a goal.

16. Retreat- The act or process of withdrawing.

17. Foes- An enemy, opponent, or adversary.

18. Plunged-  To thrust, throw, or place forcefully.

19. Persuade- To cause to do or believe something by arguing.

20. Apprentice- A person who works without pay to learn a trade.

21. Contributions- Something that is given.

22. Influential- Having or exercising influence.

23. Authorities- Person or organization who enforces laws.

24. Bondage- The condition of being held as a slave.

25. Mimic- Acting as an imitation.

26. Efficient- Acting or producing effectively with a minimum of waste.

27. Rural- Of, or related to, the country.

28. Tedious- Tiresome because of slowness, dullness, or length; boring.

29. Summons- To call forth; muster.

30.Organize- To put together or arrange in an orderly, systematic way.
